Overview
On the morning of 21st April 2010, Hugh will be stretching out getting ready to start a marathon run, 26.2 miles from leafy suburbs to Trafalgar Square, London. Yet the real start for this British eccentric lay some 1,310 miles away, on the Atlantic windswept coast of Portugal.
For if this unlikely forty-year-old endurance hero has been successful, he will have already completed 49 marathons in 49 days, in a life-changing attempt to run non-stop from Lisbon to London raising money for Marie Curie's Cancer Care. You can see Hugh as the latest in a long line of British eccentrics. It certainly proves that we may come from a small nation but we Brits can have big ideas - 50 marathons in 50 consecutive days.
Hugh may have previously completed the 'toughest footrace on earth', the Marathon des Sables and reached many a challenging mountain summit but If this man is still standing, let alone running, it won't be a feat of stamina it will be a bloody miracle!
The Big 50
50 marathons in 50 days
50 running mates with 50 life stories
50 ice baths, 50 bowls of porridge, 50 bowls of pasta
More than 50 blisters...
Hugh really believes he can do it. Those that know him well and even medical opinion have suggested that he might be madly motivated enough to pull it off!
Britain's answer to Forrest Gump is about to run the race of his life!!
